In fact size S and M are knitted from the same pattern but by the time I was knitting the M one, MIL and myself were worry the wool yarn might not be enough. Hence, we changed the pattern at the leg casing. Ta-dah! New pattern was borned! Oh yes, I used all 400meter wool yarn and left just a little bit for emergency use which I do not know when will need it.
I realized wool soaker will get bigger after several wash or use more often. Not sure about the wool cover? In fact, no need to get bigger size. Another good point is I have the chance to alter or loosen the leg casing opening when my gal's thigh grew bigger... later still can knit back to its original size. How fun!
Am I going to knit more? Probably... maybe will try wool longies but anyone want to sponsor me the wool yarn?
p/s: Knitting is very challenging... just imagine you have so many undo and redo till almost give up! No wonder knitted wool items are so expensive... But seeing the end products is simply rewarding...

From my experience wool soaker does stretch out with use more than wool cover. Wool covers are generally firmer and denser (like felt) so more rigid and sturdy, while handknitted items have more give.
Hey have you forgotten your 100% wool from Knitpicks? Can still use those to knit mah ;) just pick 3-4 balls then you can knit longies! Different colour nevermind, then your chance to learn knitting with 2 colour stripes :)

Sharine, try SweetSeats or llamajama or kozydesigns. They dont stretch out with use. Not mine, anyhow.
In fact, I think stretchy wool is great... it can accomodate when baby grows bigger or the nappy "grows" bigger (with extra insert). To me I really prefer stretchy wool... :)
I love knitting and am tempted to try out a wool soaker one of these days. But hearing an expert like you frustrating over it...makes me change my mind :)
Hi Kittycat, the frustrating part is the knitting work part... but once you get the hang of it, you will be addicted to knit more. I'm now knitting a wool longies and planning to knit a few more too... it's simply rewarding when comes to the finished item.
